About Us

The Pointer and the Pin was founded on one driving principle: Doggy Daycare Done Right. We believe that every dog has individualized needs and deserves to be in an environment that promotes structured and meaningful play sessions tailored to each individual dog. We offer a class leading 5:1 dog to caretaker ratio, with each staff member being in charge of only 5 dogs per day. With this ratio we can individualize the dogs’ sessions throughout the day and ensure that dogs that require special handling, dogs that are reactive, or dogs that are generally nervous are socialized and interacted with in accordance with their personality. We offer 3 levels of service that range from a fun day out of the house to competitive sport training and conditioning. We can assure you that whatever program you choose, your dog will come home well stimulated, tired and happy as can be. We strive to be your dog’s favorite place outside of your home.

Growing up on my family dairy farm, I have always been fascinated with animal body language and behavior. I knew my career would be inspired by those interests so in 2024 I graduated from SUNY Cobleskill with a Bachelors of Technology in Animal Science with a focus in canine training. I have since become an AKC CGC/Trick Dog evaluator, and gained real world experience training dogs from basic animal behavior to sport, fitness and service dog training. Penelope, my German Shorthair Pointer inspired me to pursue The Pointer and the Pin. She does not do well in high stimulation group settings and thus I wanted to create a ‘daycare’ environment that I would feel comfortable with putting my own dog into. Together Penelope and I compete in FastCAT, Barn Hunt, and hope to add scentwork in 2026!

I started training dogs in 2016 with my hound mix Melanie, training and competing with her in Barn Hunt and Agility. We had many struggles but she taught me a lot of patience and training skills that I still use today. My passion for dog sports grew from there to include any and all sports my dogs wish to compete in. I currently judge UpDog, Happy Ratters, Canine Escape Room, AKC Farm Dog and Fetch test, ATT tester and Trick/CGC evaluator. I have a passion for dog sports, concentrating primarily on disc, scent sports and rat sports, but also compete in dock diving, rally obedience, FastCAT and I am currently teaching my dogs to retrieve for bird hunting. My main passion in dog sports is hosting events for competitors to showcase the skills and abilities they have learned during their training journey. I bring my MBA and entraprenurial spirit to The Pointer and the Pin, where I hope to develop an envrionment where you feel safe leaving your dog with us, and your dog feels like we are their home away from home.
